I've discovered I really like this stuff recently. I never bothered to listen to it before, and I find it really interesting and hypnotic (maybe it's like more mellow ambient black metal, that might explain it). For someone who considers themselves straight edge, this is probably a strange type of music to enjoy because I certainly don't get high to it, as was probably intended. But yeah, I really like this stuff and was wondering if you guys could suggest some other bands to try out; I have the feeling this is a massive and obscure genre that's been forgotten by most, but I'm sure at least someone here also likes it.
Anything on the heavier end is most welcome, of course, but I wouldn't mind softer stuff. I'm more interested in more unknown bands. So far, my favorite that I've heard has probably been Head Machine, if that helps at all. Also, I'd really prefer to stick to genuine 60's and 70's bands; I've run across a few bands formed in the past few years that try to replicate the sound of those decades, but it just isn't the same.

I'm not too familiar with psychedelic stuff either. The Zakary Thaks had an psychedelic/garage rock sound from Corpus Christi, TX, and were pretty good musicians being how young they were when they made their peak.

^ Yeah, I'm really enjoying a lot of what I've heard from them. Crazy heavy for the time, too.
Also, haha, I knew Gangland would reply. That last one you posted is really neat. I'm really liking Them, Tea Company, and Suck also.
Glad you liked em. I actually don't listen to a lot of Psychedelic Rock believe it or not. Need to change that but I got enough music on my plate its hard to make time to search it out.

I've been listening to Alice Cooper's Pretties for You which is more psychedelic than the later albums. I'd like to listen to more stuff in that vein but I don't know much outside the classics like Floyd, Hendrix, Doors. Help would be appreciated.

Not quite. Although I have listened to Nursery Cryme before. To be a bit more specific, I'm looking for something darker and hypnotic like Alice Cooper's "Fields of Regret." I can't post YouTube links but if you're familiar with that one, that song should give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
