I haven't bought anything in a while, but I did get some nice Christmas presents...

Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation of the Black Widow
Circle of Dead Children - Psalm of the Grand Destroyer
Avsky - Scorn
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
The Smiths - Meat is Murder (fuck you guys, I still like them, and this completes my collection of worthwhile Smiths full-lengths)

A lot of my acquisitions now are just downloads. Crying or Very sad

Atheist — Jupiter: Always good to have some new Atheist, although it's still growing on me.
Intronaut — Valley of Smoke: Just outrageously good. AOTY for sure.
Baths — Cerulean: Just getting my feet wet in the electronica arena, but this is pretty tasty.
Black Moth Super Rainbow — Dandelion Gum: I love this album. Strawberry Fields-esque horns and samples, tastefully programmed drums, and trippy vocals.
Rishloo — Eidolon: I saw that these guys were compared to Tool. I gotta say, they're pretty disappointing.

I've been making due with a downloaded copy for a long time now. I kept trying to get a copy on eBay for months, but I always got outbid at the last second, especially for the first pressing copies that occasionally pop up. This album would be a lot better if "How Soon is Now" wasn't on it, but whatever, beggars can't be choosers...

I wish somebody would hurry up give the albums a nice reissue package or a box set or something.

^ Yes please. Seems like they keep putting out greatest hits albums instead, I wouldn't mind spending a lot on a nice box set.

Guilty pleasure alert:

Cellador - Enter Deception

I actually ordered this almost a month ago for $3.01, no idea what took it so long. This is officially the first power metal album I own. Hell has frozen over. Suspect

It is quite twisted, unique, and truly excellent... there isn't much quality DM from Norway, but Molested is probably top of the heap.

PostSubject: Re: Recent Purchases    Thu Dec 30, 2010 5:30 pm

Just started a Relapse Record account and had a little shopping spree, here's what I ended up with.

Sleep- Dopesmoker. Big Sleep fan and I love Matt Pike, not sure if I'll get it as it's on back order and my order only stands for 60 days, thought it was worth a try as I can't find it anywhere.

Soilent Green- A Deleted Symphony for the Beaten Down. Heard a lot of praise for them on the Revolver boards and I really like the Sludge Metal genre so I thought it was worth a try.

Clutch- Impetus. Clutch is one of my favorite bands and this is just to add to my collection.

Nachtmystium- Worldfall. Heard them a couple times after a recommendation from a friend.

Soilwork- Exile Vinyl 7". Pretty much just got this because of the cool looking art printed on the vinyl tongue

Wall of Sleep- Sun Face Apostles. A blind purchase, anyone have any feedback on these guys?

Howl-Howl. Purchased Full of Hell a couple months back and really liked it so I thought I'd buy their EP.

Jucifer/J.A.C.K. split. Another blind purchase, only 1$.

The Company Band- The Company Band Vinyl 12". Neil Fallon, enough said.

Saint Vitus- Thirsty and Miserable Vinyl 12". Cheap.

Thrones- Late for Dinner Vinyl 7". Heard some praise for them on the Revolver boards as well.

Rush- Classic Albums DVD 2112/ Moving Pictures. Rush is my guilty pleasure.

While I was at it, I also picked up a couple things I'd been sorely missing. Sunn, this is partially for you Smile :

The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow (a must own just for it having arguably my favorite Smiths song ever, "Handsome Devil," but also because a bunch of the songs on here were recorded live and have better production than the versions on their debut...definitely something I should have had a long time ago)
Morrissey - Tomorrow single (love the title track, love "Let the Right One In," and have only heard a terrible live version of "Pashernate Love," but whatever, I like to have his b-sides and it was only $5)

Stargazer - A Great Work Of Ages: Excellent stuff. Had it in my car yesterday. Sounds compelling and enjoyable upon first listen. Must be bloody amazing after five or six

It is.

Will be in my top 15 of the year... much better than Cauldron Black Ram, by the way.
