Just for starters. This is the result of sheer boredom... Embarassed

This is what I came up with, as I'm currently listening to these albums now.

COMMENCE! Shred

My choice:

There's no way anything is going to top Bestial Devastation/Morbid Visions. When that came out, it was easily the most evil thing ever released to that point. It's influence and importance is well beyond the other bands in this poll, and the music is out of the league of any of the others (not that the others are bad).

Yeah, of those, I'd probably have to go with Sepultura. Shit was pretty crazy back then.

Morbid Visions just gets the nod over Seven Churches. Seven Churches ends up having more anthemic songwriting, but the raw evil of Morbid Visions trumps it.

The city is guilty!
The crime is life!
The sentence is death!
DARKNESS DESCENDS!!!!

I think my choice is obvious lol

But I think Devastation's album Idolatry is probably my favorite Death Thrash album!

I really think the death/thrash definition is being used loosely here. Am I the only one who really doesn't think of bands like Dark Angel as being death/thrash?

Same with Sacrifice, great stuff, not very death metal though.

I think of bands like Devastation (not the pseudo-Christian one from Texas who released Idolatry, but the Chicago one who released A Creation of Ripping Death), Possessed, early Sepultura, Ripping Corpse, Sex Thrash, Panic, Archaic Torse, Assorted Heap, Witches Hammer, etc. when I think of death/thrash.

Bands like Sacrifice and Dark Angel where straight up thrash, sure they had some harsh vocals, but that doesn't make them death/thrash.

Maybe I'm just being nitpicky.

Going to have to invoke some Canuck patriotism here, and elect STRAPPADO for my favourite...

Not a mediocre album on the list, though; they're all crazy good...

The first three Sacrifice albums kill, and are certainly worth a purchase if you ever see them around.

I guess you can say loosely.
You can either pick and choose your definition of Death/Thrash. Like you said, either the music's just thrash, with DM vocals. Or death metal, with thrash vocals. I would've added Pleasure to Kill on the list, but that was a tricky one, cause even though they are primarily thrash, it was an influence to the growing DM genre at the time, as well.
I thought that there would be more bands of that 'perfect' DM/thrash hybrid, but those albums popped up in my head at the time. Doh

*bump*

I went Morbid Visions because I fucking love that record. However I probably should of relistened to them all.... but Morbid Visions is fucking awesome. Now if ya throw Morbid Tales into the mix we'd have a new winner.

I can't listen to that Sepultura album, all I hear is vocals and it irritates the shit out of me. Unless there is some new mix out there that I'm unaware of and I also find that Possessed album to be a bit overrated.

Probably some sort of metal blasphemy, but fuck it.
